Frequently Asked Dental Questions Glastonbury

Get the Answers You Need

Our dental office gets many questions, both over the phone and in-person. With so many treatments to offer, it’s no surprise that people want more details on how they can help improve their dental care experience. Below is a list of a few of the most common concerns we hear, so those who have questions can more conveniently prepare for their upcoming visit. If your question isn’t listed, feel free to give our dental office a call!

How often should I visit the dentist for checkups?

The general recommendation for people with good oral health is every six months. You may need more frequent visits if you’re suffering from serious gum disease or other chronic oral health issues, but for most, two dental checkups and cleanings a year are a good starting place. Why so often? A small oral health problem can get complicated quickly, and we can clean your teeth and gums more thoroughly than even those who are diligent about their hygiene routines. If it’s been longer than six months since your last dental checkup and cleaning, make an appointment with Glastonbury Dental Associates!

What are crowns in an hour?

With innovative CAD/CAM CEREC technology, we can create custom crowns, inlays, and onlays in just one visit to our Glastonbury, CT dental office. This means that in a single day, you can receive a custom-made, all-white, and reliable dental restoration. No temporaries are necessary and no follow-up visits. It’s that simple.

Who makes a good candidate for dental implants?

Most patients are candidates for dental implants! Some may find that they need bone grafting or gum grafting to improve their oral health to better support the implants. It is recommended that those who have dental implants placed cutback and avoid smoking and drinking. We can perform a thorough consultation to help you find out more about whether or not dental implants are the right choice for you. Contact us for an appointment!

I have not been to the dentist in years, and I’m ashamed to let a professional see the condition of my mouth. Is your staff judgmental?

First of all, congratulations on your decision to prioritize your dental healthcare! Your mouth is a big part of your overall health, quality of life, and self-esteem. We will not judge you; instead, we’ll help by addressing your oral problems, explaining treatment options, and then developing a plan of action that suits your schedule and your budget.

Do you see families?

Yes! We do everything we can to provide services that cater to families as well as make them feel comfortable during their visit. Those with children should bring them in for their first appointment either within six months of their first tooth erupting or by the time they turn one year of age.

Can you replace missing teeth?

Absolutely! We offer both traditional methods of tooth replacement, including bridges and dentures, as well as more advanced methods like dental implants. While the implant placement is done offsite, our restorations are fully customized to blend in with your existing teeth and remain strong and functional for many years. Our CEREC milling machine also makes it easy to create complex restorations in-office.
