Sedation Dentistry Glastonbury
Make Your Next Dental Experience a Positive One
We regularly treat patients who suffer from dental anxiety or fear. In some cases, we’re able to offer a gentle, safe-feeling atmosphere to help curb the discomfort and overstimulation that patients experience, but for those with more severe dental anxiety, we offer sedation dentistry. Sedation is also excellent for patients who are receiving more invasive, lengthy treatments as well. If you feel uncomfortable, fearful, or nervous at the dentist’s office, call us today to learn whether you can benefit from receiving nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation at your next appointment.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide is administered through a small nose mask that our team will place as soon as you get comfortable in the treatment chair. Throughout your treatment, your vitals will be monitored, and the sedation can be adjusted based on the real-time effects you’re experiencing. Many patients note that nitrous oxide makes them feel light and relaxed. As soon as the procedure is complete, our team will have you breathe in oxygen to flush out any remaining effects of the sedation. After your appointment, you’ll be able to return to your day as you normally would with virtually no side-effects.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is administered in pill form before your appointment. Typically, we prescribe a sedative in the diazepam family (like Valium and lorazepam), which you will take about an hour before your visit. Once you arrive, you’ll feel relaxed, as you’ll feel the full effects of the medication. Because it can take up to eight hours for the sedative to wear off, you will need to have a trusted friend or family member planning to both drop you off and pick you up from our office.
